I was born and brought up in Glasgow as was my father before me and both his
parents. My mother had moved around the Scottish coastline, as her father
was a lighthouse keeper; whose parents came from Angus, while her mother
and her parents came from Fife. It was only recently that I discovered that
although every other line hails
from
Scotland, my father's family, four generations ago, came from County Donegal in
Ireland. I lived in Scotland until I married, when we moved to Hohne, West
Germany, where our two daughters were born. We moved from Germany to Wiltshire for
nearly a year, and then back to Iserlohn, W Germany, where our two sons were
born. When our time in Germany was up, we returned to Larkhill in Wiltshire and spent many years there
before buying our current house, in a village just north of Salisbury. Although
I love Scotland, I have to admit that this part of England is very lovely!
I have worked for the past twenty odd years in a local Comprehensive School;
the first fifteen years I worked as the school Matron, and since then, I have
enjoyed learning about, planning and running the School Admin IT System, which
now comprises about twenty-two workstations. I am a Christian, and a member of Amesbury
Methodist Church; in my spare time, amongst other things, I enjoy making
music, playing
the Eb Bass (Tuba) with Sandleheath Band and with the Fordingbridge Associate
Band, as well as playing (badly!) various other instruments; I also enjoy computing, photography, family history, cycling,
walking, caravanning, wildlife, travelling, "N" gauge trains, collecting
interesting playing cards and monopoly sets from various parts of the world,
reading,....and of course, my
family!!
