Gill was born in Paulton, Somerset, and lived there until she went to Dartford College to study Physical Education and Geography, with a view to teaching.  After a period in a senior school in Kent, teaching mainly PE, she moved to the Salisbury area and taught for many years at Wilton Middle School, where she was head of RE, taught PE and various other subjects and had pastoral responsibility as a Year Head.  Sadly Wilton, an excellent school, closes in summer 2005, for reasons which can only be political or financial.  With closure looming,  she transferred in September 2004 to a local Junior School, where she now teaches all subjects across the board -so she has now taught in secondary, middle and junior schools, and covered virtually every subject.

Gill is the "Bull" part of "Cooknbull".  For very many years, we have had an extended family at Taigh Solais - various folk who for one reason or another, have moved in with us for a period of time, and then moved on.  Gill moved in to help when my mother was ill.  That was about 12 years ago.  We shared many interests and hobbies, and did many things together.  As a result, Gill became part of the family, but unlike all the others, she has not moved out again - yet!!

Together, we have photographed and researched the various lighthouses mentioned elsewhere in the site; we have caravanned together in all the favourite sites covered, we play together in two brass bands and so on....  We share the same love for Wildlife, Family History and the Islands and West Coast of Scotland.  On this page, you can see Gill visiting the only public toilet on one such island!
